Olivia Rodrigo, American actress who began her career in the 2015 American Girl Doll movie, Grace Stirs Up Success. Debuting as the main character, following this Rodrigo quickly landed a role on Disney channel, starring in the comedy show Bizzardvark which ran from 2016 – 2019. Followed by the Disney+ series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series which ran from 2019 – 2022.
Although she is most known for her hit single released in 2021, “Drivers License.” Rodrgio was launched into star dom overnight, the song sailed to the top of the charts. She released a second single “Deja Vu”which also hit the top of the charts almost overnight. Her debut album Sour became one of the most streamed albums in Spotify history. In 2023, she released a second album Guts which also broke records, and became a large tour, grossing around $209 million.
In 2026, Rodrigo announced that she would release a third album titled You Seem Pretty Sad or a Girl So In Love fans were ecstatic, predicting what was to come. A single was dropped from the album, titled “Drop Dead” which was met with great enthusiasm. The upbeat, pop song was quickly met with great reviews from fans. Rodrigo released a music video, following the song, which was filmed in the historic Palace of Versailles.
Rodrigo was hosted by Saturday Night Live, for the first time in 2021. In which she performed songs off her first album, “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.” That same year she would visit the White House and meet with the President at the time, Joe Biden.
In December of 2023 she returned to Saturday Night Live, to perform two songs off the Guts album. Her third return to Saturday Night Live occurred on May 2, 2026. This would be her first time doing double duty, double duty being hosting the show as well as the musical guest on the episode. This is considered a rare occurrence, happening in fewer than 50 years since the show’s debut in 1975.
Rodrigo delivered her song, “Drop Dead” off the new album, along with a new unreleased song titled begged, a sadder, more somber song similar to ones like “Drivers License.” Fans were quick to acclaim the song. She performed a skit as well with cast members Mikey Day, Ashley Padilla, Ben Marshall, Andrew Dismukes, Chloe Fineman, Marcello Hernández, Sarah Sherman, and Kenan Thompson.
Rodrigo’s third album is set to release on June 12th 2026.
