The North Face & Vans 2017 Holiday Collection

The unlikely duo of The North Face, an outdoor product company, and Vans, a skateboard company, has teamed up once again to produce the 2017 Holiday Collection. The collection made its global debut on November 3 and is currently available online and in stores. Providing people with comfort during the fall and winter months was the goal of this project.

New and high-quality sneakers, bags, and jackets came out of this collaboration. Sk8-Hi and Old Skool sneaker designs from Vans have been touched up with The North Face’s waterproof and insulating technology to keep out the cold for maximum comfort.

ThermoBall, the insulation used by The North Face, was created during a partnership with PrimaLoft, Inc. The way in which this technology works is that round PrimaLoft synthetic-fiber clusters trap heat inside the materials. The North Face official website shared that “testing by Kansas State University has shown that ThermoBall has warmth equivalent to 600 fill goose down.” There is no question about these products’ ability to keep people warm.

When it comes to the appearance of the shoes, Hypebeast reported that “both models also see waffle soles and suede as well as Van’s branding on the tongue tab and The North Face’s logo on the heel tab.”
Both logos also appear on the three new coaches jackets and Base Camp Duffels. The Base Camp Duffle also functions as a skate bag. These items are available in black or red. The Old Skool model shoes will be available in white and yellow with black detailing. The Sk8-Hi model will come in either entirely black or black and red.

Prices for these new arrivals are listed online. The Sk8-hi 46 MTE DX model is priced at $100 USD. The Old Skool MTE DX sneaker costs $90 USD. The Torrey MTE Jacket is priced at $179.50 USD. The Base Camp Duffel costs $120 USD.

The 2017 The North Face and Vans collaboration is more simplistic compared to the 2015 Vault by Vans collaboration with The North Face. Both collaborations focused on combining style with comfort during the winter.

However, the 2015 Holiday Collection featured the Vans Sk8-Hi MTE LX and Desert Chukka MTE LX models. There was also a larger variety when it came to color. The Hypebeast article, “Vault By Vans x The North Face Holiday 2015 Collection,” explained that “For the Desert Chukka MTE LX, options include Black, Hale Navy and Toast colorways alongside the Sk8-Hi MTE LX in Black, Blue Graphite/Surf the Web and Deep Teal/Toast executions.”

The 2017 Collection has been boiled down to simple designs as well as the use of only three colors.

According to Vans’ article, “Vans and The North Face Gear Up for Exploration,” “Vans and The North Face were founded in California in 1966 with a shared mission to inspire a lifestyle of exploration and creative expression.” Be sure to check out the Holiday 2017 Collection online at vans.com or thenorthface.com.
