The NFL has made its return this past weekend with a match between the New York Jets and the Buffalo Bills. The Jets took a loss of 27-17 to the Bills on Sunday. The Bills’ defense dominated the Jets’ offense throughout the game. They capitalized off the three defensive stops they had at the start of the game by scoring three touchdowns making the score 21-0.

Bills QB Josh Allen played a great game, completing 33 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 57 yards and a rushing touchdown. However, two fumbles in the first half helped keep the Jets in the game. With less than two minutes remaining, Allen fumbled the ball and it was recovered by Jets CB, Bless Austin. QB Sam Darnold led the Jets downfield and the team kicked a 31-yard field goal. The score was 21-3 Bills at halftime.

The Jets’ defense kept the Bills out of the endzone and benefited from a missed field goal. After the missed shot, Darnold threw a 69-yard pass to Crowder resulting in a touchdown. The Jets were down by 11. In the fourth quarter, a fumble by Herndon gave the ball back to the Bills. The Buffalo team kicked a field goal giving them a 14-point lead. The Bills forced the Jets to punt and took advantage by scoring a field goal and putting the game out of reach. The Jets scored one more time but failed to recover the onside kick. Darnold finished the game with one passing touchdown and one interception. The Jets’ offensive line was struggling to protect Darnold. Mehki Becton was the only exception as he looked impressive in his rookie debut. The rookie was selected in the first round by the Jets. His only mistake was allowing a sack but showed a lot of potential in his debut. He will have to block former defensive rookie of the year Nick Bosa. Also, Marcus Maye did a great job filling the role of former Jets safety Jamal Adams. Maye had 10 tackles and two sacks.

For the second straight season, the Bills win against the Jets, improving to 1-0 on the year. The Bills will head to Miami and try to earn their second win of the season. Jets fans have a right to worry as the team struggled on both offense and defense. If they don’t fix things fast the Jets may finish in last place.  The Jets will try to start next week better, but it won’t be easy. The Jets will try to earn their first win of the year against the 49ers next Sunday at one pm.
