SUNY Oneonta’s seventh annual JIVE (Jobs, Internships and Volunteer Expo) will be held Friday, February 8 from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. in the Hunt Union Ballroom. More than 75 recruiters will be on hand to speak with students about various employment, internship, and volunteer opportunities. The JIVE is an excellent way for students to learn about and network with companies and organizations in their area of interest.

“I am so excited to be a part of the JIVE fair,” said Internship Coordinator for SUNY Oneonta, Catherine Nardi. “This is such a good opportunity for students to find out who is hiring in this area. It is also a good time to practice talking to potential employers and see what they are looking for. In addition, students can see the volunteer needs in the community.”

Representatives from a variety of fields and backgrounds will be in attendance, including healthcare, education/child care, law enforcement, insurance, media, and more. Many non-profit organizations looking for students interested in volunteer opportunities will also be in attendance. In short, there will be something for every student, whether they’re a Criminal Justice, Biology, Education, Business, or Mass Communications major.

Students are encouraged to attend and make contacts. It is suggested those interested wear professional attire and bring a copy of their current resume. LEAD credit will also be given just for walking through the door.

“There are a lot of good companies and organizations who will be setting up tables at the event and offering students information,” Nardi continued. “They will be collecting resumes as well.”
