My Chemical Romance fans love the performances that the iconic theatrical emo rock group put  into their shows, especially on their recent Black Parade anniversary tour. The Dallas Cowboys  Cheerleaders owners, on the other hand, are not so thrilled with one of their recent additions.

Pro Silver Star, the Dallas’ Cowboys Cheerleader’s parent company, petitioned a lawsuit against  the group by filing for temporary restraining order and injunction on October 23rd that would  make sure that the band is not allowed to use costumes adjacent to that of the cheerleaders.

My Chemical Romance is currently on their yearlong tour titled ‘Long Live the Black Parade,’ which is a homage and celebration of their 20-year-old album titled ‘The Black Parade.’ Hailed  as a staple classic in 2000s emo rock music, the band has made sure to make this tour run as  memorable as possible for fans, and last Wednesday was no different when the group had  dancers come out on stage to perform their hit song ‘Teenagers’ at the Hollywood Bowl on their  Los Angeles stop.

However, these dancers’ outfits had a striking resemblance to that of the Dallas Cowboys  Cheerleaders’ uniforms. The dancers also marched onto the stage with replica semi-automatic  rifles, where they performed a mock shootout before being ‘gunned’ down on stage, which also  was mentioned in the filing as it appeared to ‘degrade’ the cheerleaders’ brand alongside having  fooled the audience into thinking the dancers were actually the cheerleaders themselves. The  company claims that they had urged the group to stop using the uniforms of the Dallas Cowboys  Cheerleaders, but that they refused.

Despite this, according to the lawsuit, Pro Silver Star is not aiming to censor or trying to be  against My Chemical Romance’s music or artistry.

“Silver Star is not litigious, and it takes no issue with MCR’s music, its artistic ambitions, or any  message Defendants seek to convey.” the company claimed in the lawsuit filing. “Silver Star  does not ask Defendants to change their setlist, narrative, politics, choreography, or even their  decision to put gun-toting performers on stage. Silver Star asks only that those performers not  wear the DCC Uniform while doing it. The universe of alternative costume designs is effectively  unlimited.”

An agreement was reached between Pro Silver Star and the band before a scheduled emergency  restraining order for October 28th, in which My Chemical Romance agreed not to use the  uniforms affiliated with the cheerleaders amid the lawsuit.
