On September 26th, Olivia Rodrigo’s The Unraveled Tour began. This is Olivia Rodrigo’s third tour for her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. This tour is composed of 86 sold-out shows across North America and Europe. It is set to conclude in May 2027.
You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love was released in June to critical acclaim. Fans and critics praised Rodrigo’s confessional songwriting and vulnerability. The lead single “Drop Dead” reached number one in the US and UK. Pitchfork described the album as “sophisticated” and her songwriting as “a level of perfection and depth rarely achieved by her pop contemporaries.”
Just back in August, Rodrigo’s all-women music festival, Daisy Chain Fields, took place. It raised $20 million for charities supporting women’s issues and labor rights. The tickets sold out within thirty minutes. At Daisy Chain Fields, Rodrigo performed the songs from You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love for the first time.
Olivia continued the program she created for her last world tour, “Silver Star Tickets.” These were limited tickets priced at $20. This was hoped to make the tour more accessible to fans with limited budgets. A portion of the profit made from ticket sales was set aside for Rodrigo’s Fund 4 Good. This fund supports nonprofit organizations that focus on building futures for women.
The setlist comprises 23 songs across all three of her albums. The show is split into the four seasons: summer, fall, winter, and spring. Spring and summer feature Rodrigo’s pop-rock songs, celebrating love and teenage angst. Fall and winter are when Rodrigo performs her slower, piano ballad songs. Rodrigo begins the show by lying in a flower field before performing “Drop Dead,” the lead single off the album. Throughout the concert, the backdrop screens pull you into nature, with flowers, birds, and changing weather.
Critics have called Rodrigo’s performance of her single “The Cure” the emotional centerpiece of the show. Rodrigo begins the song in a blue dress, and when it ends, rain falls from the ceiling, melting the dress and revealing a red set. The dress was created by Hussein Chalayan specifically for Rodrigo.
One of the most emotional moments of the night was the performance of “Drivers License.” This song was Rodrigo’s breakout moment back in 2021, and five years later, it is still the powerhouse fans love. The entire arena could belt each word, feeling the emotional buildup with the singer.
Rodrigo posted on Instagram that she had “been planning this show… for the last year, and seeing it all come together was a dream come true.” With all 86 of the future shows sold out, we can’t wait to see how this journey plays out for the next year. This tour is estimated to gross between $235-250 million dollars. Fans can’t wait to be in the stadiums or sing along on livestreams, following Rodrigo’s career across three albums.
