On Sunday the 30th of August, the United States Central Command (CENCOM) reported that they struck two rocket launchers on Larak Island off the Hormuz Strait coast in Iran. The last attack against Iran occurred on July 29th of this year, hitting Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets such as coastal defense sites, as well as missile and drone equipment.
This attack ended a month-long pause in military action during this ongoing war, when attacks against Iran had not occurred up until last Sunday. U.S. military forces claimed that IRGC troops were preparing an operation to fire rockets that carried sea mines towards the Strait of Hormuz. According to CNBC and USA Today, Trump is reported to have said that the United States is going to, “hit them hard”.
Iran retaliated against the United States by attempting to strike the King Hussein and Al Azraq air bases in Jordan with drones and missiles. The bases in Jordan report that they intercepted eight missiles from their airspace yesterday.
This Tuesday and Wednesday, the U.S. launched their latest attacks against Iran. The U.S. sent missiles along the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday and struck Kuhestak on Wednesday. One of the attacks that took place on Tuesday against Iran struck a wedding, killing a child and at least three other people. On Thursday, Iran launched retaliating attacks on the U.S. on military facilities in Kuwait.
The 2026 Iran War has been going on for the past six months. It began on February 28th of this year, when the United States and Israel launched multiple air strikes against the Iranian military. Despite the month-long ceasefire, the United States has continued to airstrike Iranian military forces. There have been over 6,000 Iranian and an estimated 20 American casualties during the duration of this war so far. There have been approximately 15,000 to 30,000 reported injuries on both sides.
