Taylor Swift recently released her new album The Tortured Poets Department containing a song called “thanK you aIMee”. The song is about her feud with Kim Kardashian which is made clear by the random capitalization in the title that spells out KIM. The feud was over a song Kardashian’s then-husband Kanye West released including lyrics that disparaged Swift. West said he had gotten consent from Swift who responded to that claim saying she never permitted him to use those lyrics. Kardashian got in on it by tweeting that Taylor was a snake.

According to US Weekly, Kardashian said she is over the feud and doesn’t want to add more fuel to the fire. The 43-year-old Kardashian star is upset that Swift is still harboring negative feelings toward her. The dispute Swift has with Kardashian and West is part of the reason she disappeared from public view for a while. That being said, it’s not a surprise that Swift would still be upset about it even now. Kardashian also said that she did not expect to be part of this narrative but she wasn’t surprised Swift wrote a song about her given how Swift writes her music.

The feud as mentioned above began at the award show where Kanye West rushed the stage and interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech. In 2016 in his song “Famous” he claimed that he made Swift famous by doing that. The lyric stated “I made that b**** famous” Swift said she never agreed to that lyric being in the song. Kardashian then released an illegally recorded phone call revealing that Swift consented to it on Snapchat with snake emojis as the caption. Four years later in 2020, the feud sparked again when the full phone call was released showing that Swift did not consent to the lyric after all and that Kardashian was the real snake by posting the edited phone call to make her then-husband look innocent.

In another track on the album called “Cassandra” fans seem to think there was a reference to the feud. The lyric goes “So, they filled my cell with snakes, I regret to say / Do you believe me now?” People believed her after the full call was released.

According to People Magazine, Kardashian mentioned that she didn’t get why Swift was harping on about it and that it’s been years. She also implied that they buried the hatchet. Swift however seemed to deny any repairing of the damage. She mentioned that it would be nice for bullies to apologize to their victims.

In an interview, Swift mentioned the damage done and how she reacted. “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar,” she said. “I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard,’ Swift admitted. After all of that Kim Kardashian seems to not care about the damage she did even if it’s been years. The song “thanK you aIMee” appears to be the end of the chapter or at least Swift airing out her grievance with Kardashian.
