SUNY Oneonta Art Department

On April 4th, 2024, SUNY Oneonta held its annual Juried art show in the Martin Mullen Art Gallery located in the Fine Arts building on campus. The Juried Art Show gives students in the art department the opportunity to submit up to three pieces of any medium for a chance to have their submissions displayed in the gallery. Students may also have a chance to have their work submitted by a professor in the art department for a guaranteed spot in the gallery. The art show is highly competitive. Submissions for the art show are judged by professors and guest jurors. This year, the guest juror is a member of the Fenimore Museum in Cooperstown, NY. Students chosen to have their works displayed may receive an award for their efforts.

The Juried Art show was organized by gallery director Sarah Simpson. A string ensemble provided music in the open space gallery outside the Martin-Mullen at 5 p.m. and the reception for the award winners was held at 6 p.m. Copies of the Art & Scope Magazine were also passed out at the event. The gallery was filled with impressive student art pieces such as photographs, sculptures, animations, ink, and charcoal drawings.

At 7 pm, the art show wraps up with a screening of the work from the 2024 Artist-in-Residence, Natan Diacon-Furtado. The work will be screened on a projection outside of the Fine Arts building.
The list of award recipients are as follows:

If you did not get a chance to see the reception, be sure to swing by the Fine Arts building and take a look at all the student works.
