Thinking Ahead for Thanksgiving

T-Sgt. Nate Leonard, UPD Columnist

With Thanksgiving break rapidly approaching and Christmas break following shortly after, I wanted to touch on a few things regarding leaving for break. Every year our department receives numerous reports of thefts from dorm rooms when students return back from breaks. Often times the victim was not the last roommate to check out for the break and when they return, they discover that they have items or cash missing. Although you may trust your roommate fully, please think twice about leaving any valuables behind when you leave for break. Do not leave any items, such as cash, lying around in plain sight. If you must leave valuables behind, please think about how you could secure them, or maybe as a last resort hide them. As I’m sure you are aware, when you check out for break, the residence hall staff conducts room checks. This is your friendly reminder that if you should have anything in your room that you may not want certain people finding, please take them home with you! We hope you all enjoy your time back home with family and friends during this holiday season and we look forward to seeing you after break!
