Culture Shock

Laura Arias, Culture Editor

   Dear Readers,

As your culture editor for the 2012-2013 academic year I would like to share some goals for the culture section this year.

The culture section will still consist of stories that are written to us by you and are chosen to be on the paper, as well as any stories written by our staff writers. But specifically, some things I would like to expose consist of anything happening on or off campus that is based around culture, which I have defined as: any study abroad experiences, interviews from professors that have visited certain areas around the world for academic purposes, experiences from students whom have taken a course that is about or covers the lives of people living in different environments, and finally, events that are happening in the Oneonta community relating to culture in anyway.

Also, this semester I will be doing a weekly column called “Be the Green” which is short for “be the green you want to see.” This is something that we have been hearing recently and is directly correlated with green movement and its objective to encourage sustainable actions in society. The columns are detailed descriptions of ways in which we can become more sustainable by changing our daily practices. Every week I will focus on a specific topic. This week it is water use so make sure you read it! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the State Times this year. Have a good one!
