5 Highly Anticipated Summer Blockbusters

Dark Shadows
Barnabas Collins, an imprisoned vampire played by Johnny Depp, is set free after being buried alive 200 years earlier. Collins arrives in the 70s and helps his family face the witch who cursed him. This is the seventh film Depp and director Tim Burton have worked together on; to many, this seems to be Burton’s most promising films in years! This film will hit theaters on May 11.

Prometheus
After a group of archeologists make a remarkable discovery, they travel to a faraway planet to explore mankind’s beginnings. They uncover horrors and must fight to protect the future. This is director Ridley Scott’s third sci-fi movie in his entire career. With the success of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” his two other films in the genre “Prometheus” is gaining great attention and is predicted to have a great return at the box office. This film will premiere on June 8.

Brave
The Scottish Princess Merida (Kelly MacDonald) is determined to defy the status quo of her society. However, when the princess rebels against her culture’s rituals, she unleashes a curse that causes buffoonery within the kingdom. Even though Pixar is peerless when it comes to computer animation, they are still receiving some backlash from “Cars 2”. But from what many of the critics had to say after viewing snippets, “Brave” will be anything but a flop. “Brave” moves to the big screen on June 22.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) meets his father’s old partner, Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans), who gives him clues as to why he may have been orphaned as a child. But after Parker is bitten by a spider and Connors turns into The Lizard; Parker’s family and girlfriend, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone), are all at risk. Spider-Man is one of the most lucrative franchises of all time and many fans have high expectations for the film. “The Amazing Spider-Man” comes to theaters on July 3.

The Dark Knight Rises
After eight years of relative peace, Bane, a terrorist, played by Tom Hardy, instigates mayhem upon Gotham City. Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) assumes the Batman mask again, but has Batman finally met his match? Feverish anticipation surrounds the end of director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy which will be coming to theaters on July 20.
