E-Sports Jeopardy

In Hunt Union Square on November 1st, 2024, the E-Sports club hosted a jeopardy event. This event took place during their regular meeting time: Fridays at 3pm.

The president of the E-Sports club is Jack Milito (Senior), the vice-president is Tina Battestin (Junior), the secretary is Jesse Rosselli (Junior), the treasurer is Taylor Kim (Junior), the comp manager is Jason McLoughlin (Junior), and the public relations manager is Tori Surls (Sophomore). 

The format of their Jeopardy event was five teams of one person each. There were two rounds with five categories in each round and one double jeopardy round. Additionally, they had three final jeopardy rounds. 

For the first round, the categories consisted of Virtual Reality, Retro, Games, Pokemon, and Auditory. The Virtual Reality category consisted of questions related to Virtual Reality games. The Retro category consisted of questions where the answers were the names of various retro games. The Games category featured questions regarding a variety of games. The Pokemon category had questions describing Pokemon for the contestants to guess. Finally, the Auditory category featured music from video games that the contestants had to guess the game the song is from, the title of the song, or both for extra points. 

For the second round, the categories consisted of E-Sports, Minecraft, Chat Is This Meta?, Easter Eggs, and Mobile Games. The E-Sports category consisted of questions about E-Sports. The Minecraft category consisted of questions about Minecraft such as patch notes or mobs. The Chat, Is This Meta category consisted of questions about what is currently popular to do in order to win in a variety of games. The Easter Eggs category had a variety of questions about hidden secrets, or Easter Eggs, in different games. The Mobile Games category features games regarding various mobiles games and identifying them. 

The first final Jeopardy was, “In which version of Undertale can you gamble with a slot machine?” The answer is “XBox” or “PS4.” The second final Jeopardy was, “These two boss trainers shared a battle theme in Pokemon Gold & Silver.” The answer is Lance and Red. The third final Jeopardy was, “In the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which dungeon has a bunch of cows that spawn in it for the master quest version?” The answer is, “Jabu Jabu.” 

There were two winners of the Jeopardy competition as the third final Jeopardy was more for fun than counting towards the points. For both final Jeopardy’s, all players bet all-or-nothing. The first winner is Frank Jennings (Mathematics, Senior) and the second winner is Michael Muratori (Digital & Studio Art, Junior). 

Once again, the E-Sports club meets on Fridays at 3pm. They do a variety of gaming related activities within the club such as Mario Kart, Wii nights, Minecraft, Among Us, and many more. Their next event will be making a variety of tier lists together while hanging out on November 16th at 4 P.M. If readers are interested, it is encouraged to visit @esports_oneonta on Instagram.
