3. Set It Up (2018)
In “Set It Up,” Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell shine in their roles as Harper and Charlie. They are both assistants whose bosses are immensely horrible to them. The pair meets and plots to get their bosses together to “let off steam” with each other, rather than their struggling assistants. As Charlie and Harper set up their bosses, trying to get them to fall in love, Harper and Charlie end up falling in love themselves. This movie is funny, quirky, and full of romance. It follows the friends to Lover’s trope. The chemistry between Deutch and Powell is impeccable and shows Powell’s ability to have chemistry with anybody on screen. The comedy in this movie is a favorite because of the quick comebacks and the awkwardness Harper emulates. It is an hilarious and underrated watch.
2. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
There is something about Big Fat Greek Wedding that hits home with audiences. Overall, this movie is very sweet, funny, and very family oriented. The romance in this movie is so innocent, sweet and it feels like you are witnessing true love on the screen. You will also love how both come from completely different backgrounds, The character of Ian being white and coming from a small family and Toula’s character coming from this big Greek family having a completely different view of life and culture. The characters mesh well together and have amazing chemistry on the screen. Actress and Screenwriter Nia Vardalos wrote this movie as an ode to her own love life and husband who had to meet her big fat Greek family. This movie is a must-watch if you are a rom-com lover.
1. How to Lose Guy in 10 Days
This is the ultimate comfort movie when you are sad, angry, happy, sick, or just need something to watch. There is something about this movie that exudes the early 2000s to a tee. The plot of the movie is very interesting and not like others. A girl trying to get a man to dump her? Sign me up! This plot was very creative, funny, and very charming. Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson do an amazing job of playing their respective roles of Ben and Andy. Their chemistry will make you genuinely believe that they are madly in love and yearning for one another. This is by far the best romantic comedy because of the humor and chemistry. It doesn’t get any better than that.
