Oneonta Red Dragons Win Big

Justin Lovell, Sports Editor

The men’s and women’s basketball teams completed two-game sweeps this past weekend by defeating both Fredonia State and Buffalo State at home in the Dewar Arena. The Red Dragons each kicked off the weekend with wins over Fredonia by scores of 79-67 for the men and 55-40 for the women. Sophomore guard, Zach Mager dominated the weekend for the Red Dragons by scoring 26 points against Fredonia, followed up by 25 against Buffalo on Saturday. For the women, Junior guard Alyshia Crawford lead the way Friday with 23 points while shooting 70 percent from the field. On Saturday both teams earned important victories over Buffalo State, 72-67 for the men and 59-43 for the women, which now puts the women in prime position to not only make the SUNYAC tournament next week but to also have a top four seed as well. For the men, pride was the most important thing as they wanted to win the last home games of the season. The men, who are now 4-19, will close out the season this week with a road game against New Paltz. The women, who are 12-11 on the season, also close out regular season play Friday against New Paltz but have SUNYAC’s starting next Tuesday.
