Letter to the Editor: What’s the Deal?

Anonymous, Contributing Writer

Okay, so I know I’m not the only student here who has noticed that the price of random shit has gone up this semester. One of these things I’m referring to are the snacks in the vending machine. Yup, everything is 15 cents more expensive now. Why is that? I don’t freaking know! What I do know is that it kind of pisses me off and I’m not fond of it. When I ran out of declining dollars last semester I was able to grab a buck and get just about any snack from the machine I wanted. Now if I run out, I’m going to have to rummage through my stuff to dig up change in order to get something. Yeah it’s trivial to most students, but still, it bothers me.

Also, has anyone noticed that it’s not so cheap to print at the Milne Library anymore? I used to be able to run off 30 fliers if I needed to, and doing that early this semester got rid of almost all of my print quota. I mean, not that printing is free, I get that, but the prices just seem to have gone up a drastically since last semester. I don’t know too much about the economy, but I can’t help but think that things have gotten a little out of hand for prices that are supposed to be designed for poor college students. Haven’t they already taken our money through tuition?

I know I’m not the only one who’s noticed. It’s not fair for colleges, which are already a form of business, to try and get more of our money through what basically looks like hidden fees to me. Our tuition’s fair, I know, but suddenly raising prices of common items isn’t. I hope my peers care as much as I do about this.

  1. The hike in price of some tems may be justifiable, but not that uf food. Snacks must be cmade aavailable at reasonnable prices. The students have very limited amount of money any ways to spend on hell lot of other things exisential for living.

It is clear looting the cash poor students. When I was a studnt at GWU, Wasshinton, D.C. our tuition fees were increased every semster by 20 %. It was ryde awakening, The administration cheated us. It was gross, and we could not even prtest against this high way robbery.

The white collar students were extremely agitated and did not have any clue why they rtsed the tuition fee, which was already out of reach.

The price hike must be discouraged at campuses across the country.
