Noah Kahan has spent months posting cryptic teasers, snippets of songs, and commenting on fans posts leading up to his album announcement. Kahan has officially announced his fourth studio album, “The Great Divide”, set to be released on April 24, 2026.

The album takes its name from its lead single, “The Great Divide”, which dropped on January 30, 2026. The track has already made an explosive impact, soaring to No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart in just three weeks, marking the fastest rise to the top in a decade. This early momentum suggests that “The Great Divide” may become one of Kahan’s most successful releases yet.

The song, “The Great Divide”, serves as both the emotional and thematic centerpiece of the upcoming album. According to Universal Music Canada’s announcement, the song is the “first offering” from the project and reflects Kahan’s attempt to process the whirlwind of the past few years. These years saw him go from a rising folk-pop artist to a Grammy-nominated, multi‑platinum star.

Kahan has described “The Great Divide” as a project written across multiple landscapes, “next to a piano in Nashville, next to a pond in Guilford, Vermont, in a legendary studio in upstate New York, [and] on a farm with a firetower in Only, Tennessee.” This geographic spread mirrors the album’s emotional range, which he says dives into, “the fears I dance with in the moments before I drift off to sleep,” and the people and places that shaped him.

To support the album, Kahan announced The Great Divide Tour, a North American stadium tour spanning June through August 2026. The tour has stops in major cities, like New York, Orlando, and Seattle. His opener will be Gigi Perez, singer of breakout track, “Sailor Song”. The pairing feels intentional, as both artists write unfiltered and emotional songs.

Additionally, Kahan announced a Netflix documentary that filmed his life over the past few years. This documentary is likely to give insight into some of the emotion and stories behind Kahan’s music. This documentary is also meant to show viewers where Kahan was when he was writing certain tracks, as his upcoming album was written across the United States.

One of the most meaningful aspects of Kahan’s music and his life is his support and advocacy for mental health. Kahan has been very open since the beginning about his own mental health struggles and even revealed a recent OCD diagnosis. He began The Busyhead Project to partner with mental health organizations to expand mental health resources for the youth.

With “The Great Divide” on the horizon, a stadium tour with Gigi Perez, and the continued impact of the Busyhead Project, Noah Kahan is entering his most ambitious chapter yet. The album is set to be released on April 24th, and fans couldn’t be more excited to see where his storytelling takes them next.
