Authorities are searching to identify a masked individual who appeared on the steps of an elderly woman, Nancy Gutherie’s house on the morning of February 1st right before her disappearance from her Arizona home.

Last seen on January 31st in her home, 84-year-old Nancy Gutherie disappeared, and the search for her continues. Ring doorbell security footage captured a masked individual who was believed to have been armed, tampering with the doorbell before entering the home around 1:40 in the morning on February 1st. It is believed that Nancy did not leave the home willingly. A ransom note was also left.

Nancy’s daughter, Savannah Gutherie, a local and well known news anchor released a statement claiming that she believed that her mother was alive and that she would return home. She also urged anyone with any information to come forward to help her and her family.

The FBI immediately got hold of the security footage outside of Nancy’s home from the night of her abduction and discovered defining features on the person who abducted Nancy. Although the person wore a mask, as well as what appears to be leather gloves, it was apparent that the person has facial hair as well as defined eyebrows. The person also carried a backpack, a zip up jacket, and light colored running sneakers. The FBI determined that this person must be a man who’s around 5 feet 9 inches tall. People in the area were encouraged to report any individuals whom they believed could possibly be.

Days following the incident, multiple people with possible connections to the case were detained for questioning, and upon further questioning, released. Leaving little chance for leads and any helpful information. One man was detained on the belief that he was guilty of writing the ransom note, and was released upon further investigation. The Gutherie’s neighbor was also detained for unclear reasons but was released after a few hours of questioning. He spoke to news networks and spoke about how he wished his neighbor would return safely.

In days following police concluded the search of the property and were left with no leads. On Sunday, February 15th, a leather glove containing DNA was found near Nancy’s residence which was immediately entered into a database. The glove was taken in for examination and swabbed instantly.

Multiple banners and posters raising awareness for Nancy’s disappearance and return were put up around Arizona. Many people feel for the Gutherie family and this terrible occurrence.
