On the 27th of September in the Presidents Garden on campus, the Music Industry Club (MIC) held a performance event on a hot, clear day at 2pm. Students sat and enjoyed a variety of different genres including rap, rock, and lyrical music. The event drew the attention of different campus tour groups and other students due to the convenient location. Covers and original songs were performed by five different artists, Anonymous Prxs, Buffalo Joe and the Hobos, Subphren, Omyügen, and theshufflingyeti. Each artist hopes to perform at more events both on and off campus during the school year.
The event opened with the Anonymous Prxs and their rap debut. Anonymous Prxs wrote and produced all of his own music and he performed with two of his friends. They plan on participating in future gigs together, as well as solo performances by Anonymous Prxs. His music is available on Spotify and Apple Music and you can follow AP on Instagram at @anonymousprxs.
The second performance was by Buffalo Joe and the Hobos. A popular group on campus, they opened for Neon Trees during OH-Fest in the Spring semester. The band played a handful of rock covers, but they plan on creating more original music in the near future. The origin of their band name was an inside joke regarding a casino game and the Muppets character Hobo Joe. Buffalo Joe and the Hobos has been a band for around a year now, and they are unsure whether they will continue to be a band post-graduation. Their work is inspired by 70s and 90s rock music. You can follow their Instagram at @buffalojoeandthehobos to keep an eye out for their upcoming gigs, one to “hopefully be at an Anthill near you soon.”
Omyügen (Michael) had a solo performance with soft vocals over chill edm and indie beats. He has been writing and creating all his own lyrics and music for the past seven years. Omyügen draws inspiration from artists such as Provoker and Morix. His music is available on Spotify and Apple Music, his most recent release came out last month. You can follow his Instagram at @omyügen to stay updated on new releases.
The event ended with theshufflingyeti performing with his friends Eerwürm and Jason Kingz. He both rapped and sang lyrical pieces, all of which being original music made by either him or one of his friends. Theshufflingyeti has been releasing songs on Spotify for the last two years, but he has been passionate about music for a long time. He is inspired by Tyler, the Creator, 21 Pilots, and Childish Gambino. You can follow him on Instagram at @theshufflingyeti.
