Taylor Swift announced through an Instagram post on August 26th that she was engaged to Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce. This announcement comes just days after revealing that her twelfth album, The Life of a Showgirl, is coming out on October 3rd.
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift began dating in 2023. It all began when Travis attended her Eras Tour on June 8, 2023 at Arrowhead Stadium. He attempted to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it, but ultimately failed.
Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, host a podcast together entitled, New Heights. New Heights delves into a mix of sports talk, brotherly banter, and guest interviews. After this Eras Tour fail, Travis went on New Heights to discuss how he wasn’t able to give Taylor his number.
From then on, it’s a mystery of how Taylor and Travis actually ended up together. By October 2023, Taylor and Travis were shown holding hands at a Saturday Night Live afterparty. She also began attending his football games as his supportive girlfriend, even hanging out with his parents during his games. During her show in Argentina in November of 2023, she changed the lyrics of her song, “Karma,” to say Chiefs instead of screen.
The rest is history between Taylor and Travis, with much of their relationship being hidden from the public.
On August 13, 2025, Taylor Swift joined the Kelce’s as one of their guests on New Heights. Taylor discussed her life as a singer/songwriter in a two hour long episode. She also delved into her relationship with Travis, stating that New Heights was essentially her dating app. She saw the clip of Travis talking about his Eras Tour experience and said that she loved the boldness of it. Throughout the podcast, Travis and Taylor quipped about their love and admiration for each other.
During this podcast, Taylor announced her twelfth studio album entitled, The Life of a Showgirl. She stated that the album was inspired by behind-the-scenes moments during the Eras Tour. She describes that the album will have great melodies combined with the focused and chaotic life she experienced during the Eras Tour.
She revealed that the twelfth song on the album entitled, The Life of a Showgirl, would feature Sabrina Carpenter. When Jason exclaimed that it sounded as though these songs would be bangers, Travis responded with, “I’m telling you, it’s twelve [bangers].”
If that wasn’t enough Taylor Swift news for the month, she announced on her Instagram, 13 days after the podcast had been released, that she was engaged to Travis. Her Instagram caption read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The date of the wedding remains unknown as well as the publicity of the celebration. Meanwhile, when Taylor Swift’s album drops on October 3rd, listeners are bound to ride the same emotional rollercoaster she did during the early days of her relationship.
