On August 29th, Sabrina Carpenter released her newest album Man’s Best Friend. Prior to releasing the album, Carpenter released a single from the album called Manchild. Manchild is also on track 1 for the new addition to her discography. The two most popular songs from the album are Tears and Manchild which currently hold the number 3 and 4 spots on the Billboard Top 100. Specifically, Tears claimed spot 3 as Manchild claimed spot 4 after spending 13 weeks on the list. However, Manchild peaked at the number 1 spot only three weeks post release. The album as whole ranks #1 in its first week on the Billboard Top 200 list of all the best albums.

Much like with her previous album, one of the songs released in the album has been widely used in a popular trend across the internet. When Did You Get Hot? is used in a trend where social media posters will show their partner’s “glow up.” When Did You Get Hot? is a track that portrays seeing someone you haven’t seen in a long time and how that person has gotten more attractive since you have been with each other. The message in the song laid the groundwork for the trend it is being used for. Posters would share a photo of their partner when they were younger and/or less attractive. Then follow it up with a photo of their partner older and/or more attractive.

The songs in the album are about relatable situations and feelings any person can have with their relationships. Tears is about finding an attractive man who treats you right and communicates with you. Tears follows Manchild within the album. Manchild is about how Carpenter attracts men who are not bright, but all she wants is for them to leave her alone. A song that brings attention to a relatable experience for college students and adults is, Go Go Juice. The song talks about wanting to call a boy, while under the influence of alcohol for courage, but not knowing who she’s going to call.

We Almost Broke Up Again Last Night takes place towards the end of a relationship. The song illustrates a relationship that has become too predictable and is beginning to fizzle out. Carpenter sings about how after they argue, the “I love yous” and the “I’m sorrys” are going to come next. She considers ending the relationship. Right when she begins to reconsider the relationship, he does something to reel her back in. When she’s being too much, she tells him he’s sweet and no other men could possibly compare to him. This song is just another common scenario that happens in the 21st century dating world.

The album itself is a fun listen and is relatable for the experience of modern women dating. Most of the songs do have a raunchy component to them that has helped catapult the album into popularity. The album is worth a listen for those who enjoy energetic music with relatable and raunchy scenarios someone can find themselves in when it comes to dating.
